This is a vibrant and colourful painting of one of the most exclusive old neighbourhoods in Palm Springs. The homes are hidden by lush green foliage-some have an array of brightly coloured flowers. The living takes place in the back areas of these homes with ample swimming pools, gorgeous lawns and gardens. This painting depicts the sunlit exteriors with brilliant reds and both soft green and dark green high hedges which ensure privacy within. The sky is a brilliant blue which only can be seen in the desert area. The palm trees inside the gate are tall and have many colours in their branches as they reflect the light which changes dramatically during the passing hours. In this painting we can tell the day will soon disappear due to the long shadows in the foreground. The red flowers and two almost black cypress trees intensify this dramatic picture.
