Cherry Blossoms
Cherry Blossoms
Niagara-on-the-Lake
24 X 24 in
Acrylic on canvas, sides painted
Spring has arrived in this protected area of Niagara, Canada and the cherry blossoms are in full bloom with their hot pink colours, fuchsia, mauve-pinks, soft pinks and even a few hints of almost white-pink. The tree itself is very dark at this time of year, almost a blue-black and the blue sky peeks through all the blossoms here and there. In the foreground of the painting there is an array of greens, some being new grass of a fresh green while other parts of the grass are of darker blue-greens shaded by the flowering tree. In the mid-ground of the painting there are shrubs of varied greens - some with deep greens, bluish greens, vivid greens, yellow and viridian greens. Some of the cherry blossoms have begun to fall gently to the ground below and in a week there will be a carpet of pink covering the greens below except a few remaining flowers which may casually land on your shoulders. A magnificent sight if you can experience this wonder of nature.
